Beet recipes to help lower your blood pressure - A new study out of the UK shows that beetroot juice can help lower blood pressure. Previous studies have also shown that beets can boost your stamina by as much as 16 percent and help improve your workout.

Here are a few recipes that make beets the star ingredient:

Ukrainian Red Borscht Soup
This recipe calls for pork sausage but it can easily be turned into a vegetarian version by omitting the meat altogether.

Salad of Roasted Beets and Arugula with Blue Cheese Dressing 
For a more savory salad, add blue cheese and walnut halves to a pile of roasted beets and toss with peppery arugula, a recipe idea from US TV chef Tyler Florence.

Pickled Beets
